If colonial publishing in New Spain has a particularity, it refers to the printed production in indigenous languages because, unlike other viceroyalties, publishing in the native languages of Mexico was entirely carried out in local presses. Of all the languages in which books were produced, the Otomi language probably posed the greatest challenges to colonial workshops. This essay presents an overview of the four printed editions produced in that language throughout the colonial period, with a focus on the three from the 18th century. Due to their typographic and editorial nature, these editions allow us to appreciate the composition and text care processes to which the texts were subjected.
