Speaker Bio
Together with his accomplice, Kythzia Barrera, he is the founder and director of Innovando la Tradición, a non-profit platform that offers multidisciplinary services for the revitalization of pottery in Oaxaca. He also collaborates with the pottery cooperative 1050°. He holds a Master's degree in Typography Design from KABK in the Netherlands and a postgraduate degree in Visual Arts from Konstfack in Sweden. He is interested in the social and ethical dimensions of design and its potential as an agent of change. He has taught classes at different universities in Mexico at the undergraduate and graduate levels. From 2009 to 2011, he led the Utopias Workshop at the Universidad Iberoamericana, preparing students to challenge the conventions of our society and design practice.
