TIPOS is a documentary webseries that presents the modern typography development in Chile. Each episode shows the intimate working of leading local designers, with a unique perspective on their creative processes from a personal point of view through interviews, follow-up and animations. TIPOS rescues the value of a trade lost between the digital and the analogue, presenting in each chapter a unique story about the value of typeface with a Latin character.

What to tell and how to tell it. It’s about framing the story, gazing at it warmly. Changes in culture and technology have transformed the way we translate what we see, what we do with what we see. And seeing is a way of being in the world. In Buenos Aires, we locals have a knack for classifying everything: buildings, colors, signs, bars, buses, textures, letters. Buenos Aires is a text we love to read over and over again.

My lecture will deal with the way I use letters in my work, dedicated to culture, social manifestations, daily influences from my environment, my city and my country, handwriting, typography, processes, poetry and humor in different formats. : posters, books, products, art, architecture... etc. And what I think about all this.

Three different projects, three distinctive designers, one client, one goal: celebrating women’s day through typograph. Projects as commissioned by the Centro Cultural Recolera over the years.

We could just say that it's exciting to create them. Beyond that, Raphaël, {founder of Altiplano}, questions the relationship between the typographic landscape and our creolized world. He will try to answer the question of the unceasing quest for new fonts by reviewing cases from his own work, while talking about his activity around the creation of bespoke fonts.

Painting a mural sounds like a whole new world, and it can be scary when you come from working at a desk on a computer, iPad, or a piece of paper. I did that transition (I'm still working on it), and I will be sharing my adventure, from how I started getting walls to paint to what it has implied at a graphic and creative level or even mentally, like being a rookie again.

Type plays a role in political communication, conveying ideology through the anatomy of its letterforms and how is placed in our landscape. In this session speakers will showcase work aimed to raise awareness, political, such as a font that reveals fake news, a book cover that depicts discontent with the elected Brazilian president, and a font designed to pay homage to the victims of the biggest environmental catastrophe of all times in Brazil.

The ways in which the cultural context influences my profession, nourish the idea that perfection—as subjectivity—goes against expressiveness and the search for new paradigms around typographic design.

I’ll be sharing my latest typographic projects through the lens of translation. As a Mexican American woman, the concept of translation has been a part of my life since childhood interpreting between languages and cultures. This adaptability and curiosity is something I have carried into my design practice, as my work often finds itself at unlikely intersections, translating between typography, activism, and technology in order to create designs that are joyful and surprising.
